£3 million land sale set to bring new jobs to Cambs Fenland
A 17 acre site in the Cambridgeshire fens has been sold for the development of a major warehouse in a deal worth around £3 million. A sale on the land at Fenton Way in Chatteris on behalf of Burgess Farms was agreed with a developer almost three years ago but the deal has had to adapt to market changes and planning requirements. During the planning process, the developer was approached by an occupier and delivery partner to provide a new 300,000 sq ft distribution facility. Simon Parsons, who led Eddisons’ agency negotiations in the deal, said: “It’s a significant sale and the outcome will, eventually, bring new employment opportunities in this Fenland area of Cambridgeshire.”
Port of Felixstowe to double size of autonomous truck fleet with new order

The Port of Felixstowe has ordered a further 34 autonomous trucks from Shanghai Westwell Technology Co. doubling the size of its fleet. The first 34 ATs, deployed early this year at the port’s Trinity Terminal alongside conventionally driven trucks, marked Europe’s first use of ATs in mixed traffic mode operation. Clemence Cheng, executive director of Hutchison Ports and Port of Felixstowe CEO, said: “We are proud to be leading the way in autonomous operations in ports. Doubling our fleet of ATs will deliver even greater efficiency and resilience to our operation. These new units will feature enhanced sensor technology, enabling even greater operational performance for our customers.” The project has been made possible by the recent introduction of a private 5G network at Felixstowe. The port’s ATs are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including 128-line LiDAR, 360-degree camera vision, monocular and stereo cameras with radar.
